What sort of personal information do you collect from me when I visit your blog, website or app?
When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter information such as:

- Mailing Address
- Phone Number
- Potential Purchasing Interest/Time Frame
- Other Information
These details are meant to help improve your user experience and provide relevant content and advertisements.
When do you collect my personal information?
We collect information from you when you register on our site, subscribe to emails, register for an event, fill out a form, or enter information elsewhere on our website.
How do you use my personal information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our email, respond to a survey or marketing communication, browse the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:
- To personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
- To improve our website and better serve you.

How do you protect my information?
We implement a variety of security measures to help protect the privacy of your data and your personally identifiable information. When a user enters, submits, or accesses information on our blog, website, or app, we utilize physical, technical and administrative safeguards including, but are not limited to:
- We do not use vulnerability scanning and/or scanning to PCI standards.

- We use regular Malware Scanning.
- Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
- All transactions are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.
What is your Legal Basis for using/processing my information?
Regarding users from the European Economic Area, our legal basis for collecting and using the information described above will depend on the context in which the information is collected, and what the information concerns.
We collect information from you:
- where the processing is in our legitimate interests (provided these interested don’t contradict your interests or rights as a user). Our legitimate interests include performing the agenda outlined under the question, “How do you use my personal information?”
- if we have your consent.

Do you transfer personal data from the European Economic Area to the United States?
ITEM Media and the websites/publications Interference Technology, Electronics Cooling, and Environmental Test & Design are headquartered in the United States. As such, information we collect from you will be processed in the United States. The United States has not sought nor received a finding of “adequacy” from the European Union under Article 45 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). ITEM Media relies on derogations for specific situations as set forth in Article 49 of the GDPR. More specifically ITEM Media only collects and transfers to the U.S. if:
- we have your consent.
- we are fulfilling a compelling, legitimate interest of ITEM Media that is not in contradiction of your rights and freedoms as a user.
How long will you store my personal information?
ITEM Media retains personal data for the duration of the user’s business relationship with ITEM Media.
What are my rights regarding my personal data?
Additional items/information that you can request from ITEM Media are:

- withdraw of your consent/opt-out
- access to your any personal data that ITEM Media may have collected from you, or simply to confirm that ITEM Media is processing your personal data.
- details regarding which trusted business partners may have received data from ITEM Media.

Other rights afforded to you:
- You may refuse the processing of your data, requesting that ITEM Media restrict the usage, stop usage, or erase the data entirely.
- You may lodge a complaint (with ITEM Media or your data protection authority) if you feel that you have concerns with the way your data is being handled.
- You may request that ITEM Media stop using your data for direct marketing.
Access to your personal data will be provided to ITEM Media users within 30 days. If access cannot be provided within 30 days, ITEM Media will provide details about the delay as well as a date when the information will be available to you. If access is denied, ITEM Media will provide a detailed explanation regarding the access denial.

Do you use ‘cookies’?
Unique cookie policies are provided for each of our websites and allow users access to a portal in which cookies deemed not to be Strictly Necessary can be enabled and disabled. The cookie policies can be accessed here:

Do you disclose my information to third-parties?

Publishing, as a business, has long survived on the back of advertising revenue. Such emails will never be sent to you without your consent. Consent can always be withdrawn by click “Unsubscribe” from the bottom of an advertising partners’ communication.
ITEM Media has approved all advertisers, and does not allow outside advertisements through third-party ad networks.
Are you responsible for third-party links?
Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party content, products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.
Do you adhere to the California Online Privacy Protection Act?
According to CalOPPA, we agree to the following:

How does your site handle Do Not Track signals?
We honor Do Not Track signals and Do Not Track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place.
Does your site allow third-party behavioral tracking?
ITEM Media does incorporate third-party behavioral tracking to better serve ads and relevant content. ITEM Media has approved all advertisers, and does not allow outside advertisements through third-party ad networks. This means that while you may see advertisements on our websites, these advertisements are only coming from industry-relevant advertisers that ITEM Media has direct communication and relation with.
Do you adhere to COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)?
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States’ consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online.
We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old.
Do you adhere to Fair Information Practices?
The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.
To comply with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:
- We will notify you via email within 7 business days
- We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle which requires that individuals have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
Do you adhere to CAN SPAM Act?
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
We collect your email address to:
